Neighborhood Connections invites you to our first Community Conversation on Tuesday, December 9th from 6pm to 8:30pm at Trinity Commons. This Conversation will focus on the reuse of vacant or underutilized land in Cleveland. Learn from four grassroots organizations on their experiences reusing vacant land in the city of Cleveland and some of the successes and challenges they've faced. With the availability of vacant land throughout Greater Cleveland, many grassroots organizations are taking advantage of this opportunity and reusing the land for a variety of purposes. Presenters at this Conversation include:

The Gather 'round Garden, an urban farm with a chicken coop located in the heart of Ohio City's Historic District on Lorain Avenue. Learn how this group of urban farmers redeveloped unused parcels of land into an asphalt garden and about how they did this project.

The East 128th Street Block Club in Buckeye, who secured a piece of land at the end of their street to build a park with a gazebo for neighborhood gatherings.

The South Hills Neighborhood Association in Old Brooklyn, who took a poorly maintained circle of land in the middle of an intersection and created a beautiful gathering space and passive park for neighborhood residents.

The Earth Day Coalition's Naturehood Project, where they are "lasagna mulched" a vacant lot so it can be replanted with native Ohio species this spring.

Please join us for this exciting discussion!
