These are the Neighbor Up University trainings, mutual support learning groups, coffee Tuesdays, and skill shares scheduled for July. Thanks to all who are hosting!

Coffee Tuesdays

Every Tuesday, 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Organizing on Public Transportation

Tuesday, July 7, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Concerned about public transportation in Cleveland and East Cleveland? Want to work with others on organizing to create a better local transit system? Join host Caitlin Johnson, lead organizer with Communities United for Responsible Energy (CURE). Location: Neighborhood Connections, 5000 Euclid Avenue, Suite 310

Network Building Community of Practice

Wednesday, July 8, 1 to 3 p.m.

Learn more and share your expertise on: neighborhood organizing; hosting and facilitating gatherings; and bringing together community members to reweave the social fabric while building power for collective action. Location: Trinity Commons, 2230 Euclid Avenue

City Repair Night

Monday, July 13, 6 to 8 p.m.

Learn with your peers and from content experts on creating meaningful community places in your neighborhood. This month’s session will focus on designing your project. There is also an opportunity to raise funds for your project through In Our Back Yard (IOBY), an online fundraising platform. Location: Trinity Commons, 2230 Euclid Avenue

Wednesday, July 15, 6:15 to 8 p.m.

Do you wonder what are the requirements to run for public office in Cuyahoga County? For City Council? Mayor? Would you consider being a candidate but want to know more? Join host Alonzo Mitchell and Rosemarie Amato from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections to learn more about campaign finance and become a public servant. Are you a small business owner and have an interest in meeting other small business owners? Join Neighbor Up member Indigo Bishop and other small business owners for lunch and conversation. Location: Bridgeport Cafe, 7201 Kinsman

Financial Empowerment Strategies

Thursday, July 23, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Neighbor Up member Christopher Smith invites you to share some strategies and tools to build wealth. Christopher will share some of the tools and strategies he uses through his work with Operation Hope.  Location: Neighborhood Connections, 5000 Euclid Avenue, Suite 310

How to Make a Pallet Bench

Thursday, July 30, 6 to 8 p.m.

Neighbor Up members Gordon Martin and Michael Mishaga will host. Learn how to make a bench out of a pallet! If you have your own circular saw, 2 x 4’s, 4 x 4’s, pallets, and drill, please bring them (though they are not necessary to participate).
