The Forgiven Community Church in Shaker Heights is having a “Shoes 4 Haiti” shoe drive to help the families in Haiti with their basic needs. Haiti has been through an awful lot historically. And the country is still struggling to recover from the natural disaster that took place in 2010.
Many of the families do not have any shoes on their feet. Fathers, who don’t have any shoes, cannot go to work. Children cannot go to school. So our goal is to collect 300 pairs of shoes, 25 pairs of shoes per bag, by July 22, 2013. We only have 50 bags as of now and we are in desperate need of unwanted, used or new shoes to meet our goal.
When we get 300 bags of shoes, 25 pairs of shoes per bag, then they will be shipped to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. We hope that with the support of area churches, retailers and civic groups, we can reach our goal and make life better in Haiti. Every pair of shoes makes a difference. Locally, volunteers are being sought out to help us in our efforts.
We are collecting all types of shoes — work boots, dress shoes, tennis shoes, children’s shoes, flip-flops, men’s shoes. Every pair of shoes counts! It’s time to let someone else walk a mile in your shoes. For more information, please contact 216-754-0074 or 216-313-6304. Someone will either pick up the shoes or direct you to our drop off boxes that we have at different locations.
