Cleveland Climate Action Fund Announces Small Grants

The Cleveland Climate Action Fund is awarding over $20,000 to five neighborhood-led projects that will reduce carbon emissions and encourage collaboration in the community. This marks the Fund’s first round of 2015 grant recipients. The second round of request for proposals is open now. Applications are due on June 19, 2015 and are online at www.clevelandclimateaction.org. The Fund provides free educational climate action workshops and competitive grant opportunities.

Cleveland Clinic to Launch ‘Healthy Communities’ in Fairfax Neighborhood

'Fit in Fairfax' will kick off its inaugural event at the Langston Hughes Community Health and Education Center on September 18, 2014, 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event’s launch, part of Cleveland Clinic’s Healthy Communities Initiative (HCI), will feature wellness speakers, Healthy Heart Screenings, free raffles, children’s activities, cooking demonstrations, neighborhood organizations, vendor tables, and a host of activities that are designed to help Fairfax.

Sports Alert: The Jesse Owens City Meet, Regionals & States

On May 11, rain delayed the Jesse Owens City Meet. It happened two days later on May 13, 2014. Glenville ran away with the boys division as usual (208 points). John Hay girls won again in the girls division -- this makes fours years in a row. Collinwood girls made it competitive with 158 points. John Hay had 170. Glenville did well in the districts and sent six.
