The Non Profit Capacity Building Boot Camp is a series of trainings designed to help not-for-profit groups formalize their business structures, complete organizational assessments and other essential documents as they are led through a strategic visioning and planning process.
Who should apply?
Up to ten (10) organizations (501 c 3, contemplating 501 c 3 status or organizations with fiscal agents) will be selected through an application process. A nominal participation fee/tuition is required for participation and selected participants (two or three from each organizations) must commit to attend five of the six sessions.)
When are sessions?
Classes occur once a month beginning October 19, 2017. Each monthly session will last approximately three hours, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM (dinner will be provided) with up to 30-minute time allotment for questions and continued participant project development. Sessions during the series will take place:
October 19 – The 501 c 3 Process
A complete review of the Internal Revenue Service process for 501 (c)(3) Tax Exempt Status designation.
November 16 – Effective Board Governance
Board training conveys the knowledge and understanding needed by board members in order to effectively carry out their roles as members of the organization’s board.
December 14, January 18 – Strategic Plan I and II
Strategic Planning is a set of concepts, procedures and tools designed to help organizations uniformly think, act and learn toward a collective vision and ultimate goal.
February 22 – Annual Work Plan
An Annual Work Plan translates the overall strategies and objectives, which are contained in the strategic plan, into everyday activities.
March 15 – Fundraising Plan
A Fund Development Plan is essential to an organization achieving its optimal fundraising goal.
April 19 – Final Project Presentations
Participants will have 30 minute presentations to discuss the alignment of their work during the ascending stages of the course and how it’s impacting the tangible project or concept for their organization.
All sessions will be held at Neighborhood Connections, 5000 Euclid Avenue, Suite 310, 44103
- Training is customized to support the development of smaller community-based organizations and the smaller cohort size allows each session to be tailored to build on the specific needs of the participating organizations.
- Participants can learn from one another’s experiences in the peer group technical assistance sessions.
- Selected participating organizations will work on a tangible project or concept for their organization.
