Application Timeline

Attend a Grantseeker Orientation Session

Before completing your grant application, please attend a grantseeker orientation session. We host these meetings in the month before each grant deadline to assist grantseekers in preparing their applications and to answer questions. Each session will cover how to apply and what to expect after submitting an application. Check back here for dates and locations.

One-on-One Assistance

If you need additional help after attending an orientation session, one-on-one assistance  is also available through the Neighbor Up Action Clinic by calling 216-361-0042.

Complete the Application

Download and complete a grant application. If you complete a paper application, submit it by the deadline, along with five copies, (and five copies of supplemental/support materials) to: Neighborhood Connections, 5000 Euclid Avenue, Suite 310, Cleveland, OH 44103

Grant Making Committee Review

After the application is submitted, it goes to the Grant Making Committee. The committee is made up of Cleveland and East Cleveland residents. They review each application and determine which applicants to interview. Because of the volume of applicants, they can only interview the groups that meet the basic criteria.

Interviews are conducted at convenient locations in Cleveland and East Cleveland neighborhoods. Up to three individuals may attend the meeting. Groups will have time to talk more about the ideas presented in their application, and will answer questions from the committee.

Groups will be notified approximately 10-12 weeks after submitting their application whether they received funding.

Grantee Orientation

Groups chosen to receive funding (and their fiscal agent, if appropriate) will be required to attend an orientation session providing assistance with the project’s implementation.

Final Report

Within a month after grant activities are completed, grant recipients will be expected to provide a report on their work.

The grants are neighborhood specific so the project would have to take place in one neighborhood to qualify. Are all the grassroots groups in the same neighborhood?

I’m aware that $5,000 is not a lot, but would Neighborhood Connections support a collaborative project from grass-root organizations.

  4. I would like to submit an application for August, 2016. What is the deadline date?

  5. lmills

Absolutely, will send it to your email.

  6. Can you send me a copy of the final grant that is not a PDF file so I can edit it and add the information. On your website I can only download a PDF file and I can not edit it or convert it as I do not have the program to do so. Our Summer Reading Program just ended and I want to submit the final report right away.

  9. lmills

We won’t host those again until closer to the next grant deadline in February 2016, but if you have questions, we can talk by phone or meet for coffee to talk about the application process.
